Welcome to GambOS - Learning Gambas on Debian
What is GambOS?
GambOS 2.0 is a Debian 12 bookworm Linux distribution with the minimalistic MATE desktop, with some hand selected applications and Gambas 3.19.6 pre-installed, all as a foundation for learning Gambas.
It aims at:
- Providing a controlled and stable learning environment, the same environment where the learning guides and example code were developed. All this with the same user account, the same Gambas version, the same desktop, the same window manager etc., all so that environmental obstructions are minimalized and the focus can be on learning Gambas.
- Providing the GambOS core applications, like GambOS Dashboard, GambOS Guide Assistant, GambOS Learning Center and GambOS Software Center, all coded in Gambas and part of a pre-installed environment.
- Providing a GambOS repository for the distribution of Gambas, its applications.
- Building applications including a countdown timer, a text editor, a web browser, an image viewer etc. so that you can install and experience applications build in Gambas.
- Providing learning guides from beginner to advanced and, amongst other things, learn how to set-up, build and distribute the above mentioned applications in Gambas.
- Provide a centralized Gambas3 application, GambOS Learning Center, that, besides being a viewer for the guides, can serve as a base for research on Gambas3 topics and provide help when needed.
- In the long run provide multiple stages of learning gambas on GambOS, increasing in difficulty, with newly added Gambas applications as part of your learning experience.
What is the current status of GambOS?
GambOS 2.0 was first released on August 13th, 2025Current release: GambOS 2.0 build 26, released on November 8th, 2025

How can I get GambOS?
GambOS is supplied as:- a Legacy/UEFI boot supported iso file for amd64 systems and vitrual machine
- an image for arm64 Raspberry Pi model 4B AND model 5
