I've been programming with Gambas on and off since maybe 2007 or so. I was taking Visual Basic 6.0 in high school (which was pretty well outdated by then!), but I used Linux at home. Gambas filled this niche quite naturally. I also learned Ruby and dabbled in other languages at this time.

These days, my job is mostly maintaining various yaml files that control different CI/CD workflows, with some Python here and there to write developer tools. I've found myself drawn to Gambas once again for doing hobby stuff at home. So many things haven't been done in Gambas yet, so there's a lot of learning opportunity. It's a lot more fun than tooling around in Python for me.

Right now I'm working on a few projects. One is a little GUI for my husband to manage his redshift (blue light filter) settings. I wrote a few gambas scripts to improve my side gig, which is an 8mm digitization business. I also just started looking at GPGME, a GnuPG library, to see if I can Gambas-ize it.
