File conversion using ffmpeg
Multimedia File Convert is a Gambas interface for the command line tool ffmpeg.
It allows you to configure conversions from aligned multimedia formats and save them for future use.
For example:
You can convert from mp4 video to mp3 audio (Obviously, you cannot convert back.)
You can convert image files such as webp to png
There are are a very large list of supported file formats and for the audiophiles out there, you can configure ffmpeg to a high degree.
There is a simple Help system to describe functionality that opens in your default browser.
This application incorporates the Gambas Framework that I've been working on and blogging about here
Once files are converted, you have the option to review them or copy to a specific location.
In user preferences, you can configure files to open in an editor provided that editor supports opening a file from the command line.
You can nominate one editor for Video, Audio & Images respectively.
Note#
Audacity works well for Audio
Gimp works well for Images. ( you can use the parameter –no-splash to directly open the file without all the splash screen stuff )
I haven't found a video editor that I can Shell/Exec to and pass a nominated file as a parameter.
If anyone knows of one, please let me know.
What I use this for:
I download YouTube music videos and then extract the audio to mp3 so I can listen to it on my phone or use it as background music while I'm writing. (personal use only)
I then added facilities to convert images, as I collect a lot of images in various formats from a plethora of sites for use as references when I'm writing and wanted everything to be in the same format(png)
to make it easier to work with.
While this is (more or less) a finished project, I suspect there may be further bugs. (There is ALWAYS at least one!)
Please contact me with any comments.
Cheers - Quin.
