Has anyone tried B4A? It looks super cool. Am trying the trial version, and feeling very much at home coming from Gambas. We should have a G4A    8-)

Can you post an .apk file to see your results or do you have to pay for the full version first? I have looked at 4BK but have been put off by the fact it is not open-source.

I have just played around a little, and compiled and uploaded directly to my device, but it seems full version is required to make APK files. The trial version is 30 days, full is $59, so not sure if I am going for it (yet). I am also trying out C#, which is free with Xamarin.

4BK? Or B4J  :?: No, its not open source sadly…

I have had a look at RFO but I found the IDE not very good and that you had to program on the phone or use a development kit did not help. However I did find a APK creator for it AND it's written in Gambas, but I can't get it to work. It is available here http://rfo-basic.com/x-quickapk.html.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Having taken a look at the manual, it looks like it is more of an app wrapper around HTML+JavaScript that is to be coded in BASIC? B4A supports about every bell and whistle there is in the Android ecosystem, and has an enormous amount of supported modules (components), like MQTT, which I really need for my ESP projects. The down side is that its not open source, but the upside is its not that expensive, and it is really cool  8-)

But, I am open to any viable open source Linux alternative.

The project looks dead? The github site had it's last commit in 2015.
