Under Ubuntu 24.04, there is a problem with the app icons in the dock/dash.
I have now found a tip (Solution Ubuntu 24.04)
that I have successfully implemented.
In a nutshell:
For apps that do not display the desired icon in the dock/dash,
create an xxx.desktop file in .local/share/applications and copy the desired
app icon to the .local/share/icons folder.
Add the following lines to the xxx.desktop file:
Code (gambas)
[Desktop Entry]
Name=mp3 Player
Exec=/home/[user]/gambas/mp3/mp3.gambas
Comment=mp3 Player Gambas
Terminal=False
Icon=mp3.png
Type=Application
StartupWMClass=mp3.gambas
Name[de_DE]=mp3 Spieler
Name=mp3 Player
Exec=/home/[user]/gambas/mp3/mp3.gambas
Comment=mp3 Player Gambas
Terminal=False
Icon=mp3.png
Type=Application
StartupWMClass=mp3.gambas
Name[de_DE]=mp3 Spieler
The important thing is the line:
StartupWMClass=mp3.gambas
You can access the class by pressing
<alt><F2>lg<Enter> (lg lower case LG!)
Select the Windows tab.
Find the entry for the app that is already open.
Enter as above and save.
The icon will be displayed within seconds.
This is the solution for apps that are compiled.
Perhaps there is also a solution for apps
that are simply executed in the interpreter?
