Hi there,If this is the right place to ask, if not please move the Topic!
Gambas recognices the appImage app and tries to generate an AppImage, getting the following lines and some errors,
any hint what's going wrong?

What system are you on? What gambas version are you on?
Above output says that AppImage is looking for Ubuntu 22.04 (jammy) in the Debian repo's!! That is strange to begin with.
The Gambas team Ubuntu ppa it is also looking for has been moved to OSB, as Canonical (that hosts launchpad) had changes that required things Benoit didn't like.
They look more and more like M$ with their policies and the direction it moved to with Ubuntu in the past 10 years and the fact that the work togheter with M$ to make linux available on Widows.
Ubuntu and Debian Gambas binaries from GambOS repo is packaged the same as Gambas on OSB, both are based on my recipes, that's why I know.
So, that should not be the problem. A later version that the 3.19.6 from GambOS repository might have changes as there has been a lot of discussion on the topic and it seems not all always works well in all environments.
What I do know is:
1. You need some package installed to light up AppImage install from a Ubuntu repository I believe
2. You need to redirect the Ubuntu ppa somewhere in configuration, something that might have been added later as the trouble with launchpad was around 3.19.6 release (that never got officialy released in a repo by the Gambas team)
Don't ask me the exact how, as I'm not using AppImages at all and will not. I just saw a lot pass by on the Gambas mailing list.
Here is a search on Gambas mailing list archives for AppImage: https://lists.gambas-basic.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=AppImage
You should find some answers there.
I will move the topic as this is a more general question that more might have questions about.

DO NOT use Gambas from the official Debian OR official Ubuntu repo's as they are NOT packaged according to the Gambas standard and will mix badly with official Gambas repo on OSB (or my GambOS repo for that matter).

There are problems with recent versions of Ubuntu; the latest one that works well is 20.04 (.6?).
If you want to try creating an Appimage, you need to install an older version of Ubuntu, even older (18.04).
Then install (by compiling) the latest stable version you can. Try 3.19. I think it also works with 3.20, but I'm not sure.
Look for the ISO of Ubuntu version 20.04.6 (the latest).
Here's the guide I wrote; it's missing an image (of the Gambas window), which I'll try to find later:
Creare un AppImage firmata di un progetto Gambas - Gambas-it.org - Wikipedia
To compile, follow this guide:
Compilare Gambas - Gambas-it.org - Wikipedia
The Gambas3 3.19 tarball file can be found here:
Files · 3.19.6 · Gambas / gambas · GitLab
You need to download it from the blue button, then unzip it on your home folder and rename it gambas-stable.
You can find the yaml code file here:
.gitlab-ci.yml · 3.19.6 · Gambas / gambas · GitLab
Copy everything related to ubuntu:focal and follow the instructions in the guide I mentioned above.
Note: You don't have to compile from git by cloning it, but you have to download the tarball file and unpack it in your home directory (right mouse button is fine :-) )
Good luck!

If you want to install Gambas 3.19.6 on Ubuntu 20.04 just use the GambOS repository instead of compiling. (https://gambos.gambas.one/repo/index.html)
Much easier. There is a download that will add the repo to your sources and download the needed gpg key. It is hosted here on gambas.one (https://gambos.gambas.one/repo/installrepo.html)

Dear
I'm simply overwhelmed.
I would like to thank you for your expertise.
What you all have on knowledge, a big repository 👍
I thought it would be a good point to test this AppImage thing with GambOS.
What I've learned about Ubuntu and Gambas in this short time:
They are great products to use. said
Yogi
One gets help if searching the web, the forum etc.
But it is also not that simple going into details like this AppImage. As
what is there to do, not only just using the actual system, actual version of Gambas to get the thing running.
What I learned about programming, keep it simple and give it some comments if you look later into the source.
This AppImage is not the way for me I think, better giving attention to GambOS and Gambas, there is much to learn and
understand.
And yes, it seems the "virus" of controlling everything like M$ is swapping over to Ubuntu as well. On smartphones you have Gxxgle
just narrowing the gap to freedom, reducing every part of freedom in the name of "security" (so I use e/OS at the moment).
Have a nice day,
kind regards,
Yogi

I also apologize for my previous post, which was very confusing and contained completely incorrect information.
Unlike installation packages, which must be produced with the same (often obsolete) libraries found in the application repositories, with AppImages, since they host everything internally, you can create the project with the latest version of Gambas3.
In reality, if you have the option of using a virtual machine (I use qemu/kvm), but the more popular closed-source ones are also fine, and install Ubuntu 24.4 (any), creating an AppImage is very simple.
Of course, if we're talking about small programs.
This is the code I used to do the usual test with the program on the Gambas Farm CuckooClock.
In this test, I forgot to sign the appimage.
If you want to download a signed and somewhat dated AppImage, this is the link:
https://paste.c-net.org/HealthyBehaving
and this is the procedure to check its signature:
You need to make the app executable:
Code
chmod a+x Cuckoo*.AppImage
Then you need to verify the signature with:
Code
./CuckooClock-0.1.7-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-signature
Code

Code
./CuckooClock.gambas
Code
wget -O appimage-builder-x86_64.AppImage https://github.com/AppImageCrafters/appimage-builder/releases/download/v1.1.0/appimage-builder-1.1.0-x86_64.AppImage
chmod +x appimage-builder-x86_64.AppImage
sudo mv appimage-builder-x86_64.AppImage /usr/local/bin/appimage-builder

First, I'd like to apologize to bothgbWilly and
Yogi for the delay in responding.

Good Morning,
For me, there is nothing to apologize for.
I mean, everyone tries to give the best they can at the time of writing, to the best of their knowledge and belief. 😇
And thanks again for your input, always a pleasure to see how things work out.
You are a great soul 🙏
Kind regards
Yogi
