Hi GB.
Dumb question. To set expectations….I have a somewhat limited knowledge of Virtual Box and less of the Debian OS so keep that in mind.
I have installed other Linux distros and various Windows versions without ( too much) issue on Virtual Box.

I downloaded the GambasOS ISO (ver 25) and used virtual box to create a standard VM.
The install ran fine but something seemed missing - I noticed that there was no way of entering in a user name.
So when I get to the log in stage, I obviously can't log in.  - I immediately thought I missed a step and killed the VM and started again.
Same result.
I'm missing a simple step either in Virtual Box or a step in the install that is not surrounded by large red arrows *sigh* ?

Please point me in the right direction.

Cheers - Quin.

Hi , only a quick answer via Mobil to test this connection.

The username can't be change, it is always "gbuser".
Only the password can set by yourself.

I think, this is a function by design.
So in the guides and instructions it always points to the correct path on your system.

Best regards
Poly

The right direction you say? How about a step by step screenshotted instruction (Install iso)?
And Poly is right, you can't set a user name yourself during install as it is an intentional preseed with a preseeded account. Read all about it in the online installation manual

The idea is to have a very basic system with little distractions with same user, same language (English), same desktop, same apllications pre installed to ensure all is like in the guides.
But once installed, you can of course create new acoounts and install whatever you like, as it is like a regular distro and has all you could desire for.

And welcome to GambOS (and thus Debian) ;)

Classic case of not RTFI.
Working as advertised.

Cheers - Quin.
