These are the reasons for the new build:
- have GambOS patch 1 integrated, so no patch is needed for build 26 (see https://gambos.gambas.one/downloads/patches.html)
- have the latest Gambas 3.19.6+bpo backport pre-installed which includes a new backport of a gb.desktop fix for the Gambas Farm (see https://gitlab.com/gbW…9.6+bpo.md?ref_type=heads for details on what is backported from 3.20 and master version)
- based on Debian 12.12 (so higher default kernel used)
- make UEFI bootable, as some systems don't allow for legacy boot
- get rid of xdg-desktop-portal and all it pulls in, as it is not needed
- create an, as close as possible arm64 image of build 26 as possible (there will be architectural different dependencies and packages, but for the rest and close as possible to the iso build 26)
Some other news
There was a recent software update (2 days ago) of all but one of the GambOS core applications.
Expect a new version release of GambOS Book 1, as I'm currently adding the last pages of the proofreaders corrections.
GambOS Learning Center will be updated along with the GambOS Book 1 updated release.
This will all happen before the move to a new server, so in upcoming days.
And meanwhile I will also continue on writing Gambas Book 2. There is a sneak on the website (see https://gambos.gambas.…s/books/gambas-book2.html).
That's all for now…
Have fun..

The hard part turned out to be the hack and recreation of the iso afterwards. This hack ensures only live boot and preseeded install are the menu options when booting the iso.
It took me 3 rebuilds and tests before I got that right. Small typo's in the changed configuration files are enough for a failed UEFI boot iso.
But neverteless the 3rd dev build 26 iso tested fine by me, but needs a few tiny tweaks.
Next build 26 will be the iso for contributor team to test. After their testing a final build 26 iso will be released to the public.

Turned out that QEMU can also be used to test and install UEFI bootable iso's and that worked just fine after 3 tries.

I did discover the live boot not working anymore.
I could install both a Legacy boot and EFI boot in VM, so that's at least someting going well.
Do need someone to test EFI boot on a real system as all contributors systems that support legacy boot

The live build is working again, I apperently removed a bit too much
Legacy and EFI boot are now both supported.

UEFI boot has been tested and proven to work on both VM and real systems. Legacy boot is still supported.
GambOS build 26 will have a custom GambOS greeter, a part of pre installed packages no longer installed and a few others have been added as pre installed.
All is running fine. I will be maybe doing some last small fine tunings, but I think not.
In less that a week from now GambOS build 26 will be released.
